Dear Friend,
As we approach the new Jewish year 5786, Yom Kippur will mark our first Yizkor of the year. We are preparing to publish our Yizkor Book - a Book of Remembrance. Yizkor is recited four times annually on Yom Kippur, Simchat Torah, Pesach, and Shavuot. The book will be distributed each time Yizkor is recited.
Yizkor is our way of assuring our departed loved ones are not forgotten, praying for their souls to attain higher elevations in heaven. In Jewish tradition, we honor them through prayer and pledging charity in their memory. This custom is rooted in the belief in the soul's eternity. When physical life ends, the soul ascends to the spirit realm, where it attains higher levels of purity and holiness. The living can still create merit for the departed by performing good deeds and giving charity in their memory.
The Yizkor book will include special prayers and the names of those we wish to honor. A minimum donation of $180 for a quarter page is requested, and it will also include the donor’s name. Please complete the form below by September 14.
With best wishes,
